The Blues boss was victorious over his former club Spurs thanks to goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson.

But speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Chelsea boss, who is under contract with the club until the end of next season and with the option to stay a further year, says it is not his decision as to whether he remains at Stamford Bridge.

“I think all managers need time to translate the ideas and the philosophy, more when the team is how this squad is,” he said.

“We need to have time but it’s not my decision.”

Asked whether he feels pressure from those in charge at Chelsea, Pochettino added: “I don’t know, it’s difficult to see every single week if I’m under scrutiny or judgement but it’s not my decision to be here or not to be here.

“If we want to match the history of Chelsea, I think there is a lot of work to do and we will see if we have time to build in this way.

“I’m so proud about these guys and all the squad that we have. We work for them, for our players, I work for them and we want the best for them.

“Until the last day, we are going to try to help them.”

Chelsea were without 14 first-team players for their London derby clash meaning Pochettino was forced to name a bench filled with young players.

And the Blues boss said he was proud of how his team responded to the situation.

“Even with the circumstances we had today, we believed it was an opportunity to show that we really believe in what we are doing, in our ideas and our philosophy,” he said.

“I think this is my first time this season that I really feel so, so happy because it is the moment that after ten months, the team really start to realise how we need to compete and I think today we competed really well.”
