In addition to the ongoing talks related to Andrea Pinamonti’s transfer, Lazio and Sassuolo have also opened talks for Manuel Lazzari.
The Biancocelesti have spent their summer chasing various attacking options, but have seemingly settled on Pinamonti after giving up on others like Mauro Icardi and Santiago Gimenez, not to mention Bamba Dieng’s medical fiasco.
Lazio are hoping to secure the 27-year-old striker’s services on an initial loan with an option to buy, but he would first have to extend his contract with Sassuolo, which is set to expire at the end of the season. But while progress is being made on this front, reports in Italy insist the two clubs could also finalise another deal before the transfer deadline.
According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, the Neroverdi have a keen interest in Lazzari, who is now considered surplus to requirements at Lazio. Adam Marusic, who renewed his contract last season, is now Gennaro Gattuso’s first option for the right-back role, while the returning Romano Floriani Mussolini is the Montenegrin’s backup.
La Lazio Siamo Noi also confirms that Sassuolo are making concrete moves for the 32-year-old right-back, but his move would be separate from Pinamonti’s for budgetary reasons. Like the striker, Lazzari is running on an expiring contract.
The Valdagno native has been at Lazio since making the move from SPAL in the summer of 2019. Over the past seven years, he has made 247 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing his teammates with 19 assists.
