Lazio have some familiar company in the race for Vasco da Gama forward Rayan, as Bournemouth are trying to overtake them.

The Background

The 19-year-old is considered one of the most exciting young talents in Brazil. Despite his tender age, he has already made 64 appearances in the country’s top flight, scoring 16 goals and providing one assist in the process.

Lazio Could Replace Matteo Cancellieri with Rayan

The Rio de Janeiro native has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, which only drove his price tag up. And yet, Lazio have been keen to lure him to the Italian capital. The versatile attacker is a left-footed player, so he could be a replacement for Matteo Cancellieri, who has reportedly agreed to join Brentford pending an agreement between the two clubs.

Lazio’s Offer for Rayan

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Aquile submitted a bid for Rayan. They are trying to convince Vasco da Gama by offering them a fixed transfer fee of €20 million plus €5 million in bonuses, in addition to a 50% sell-on fee on a future resale. However, the Brazilian club wasn’t tempted by these figures, holding out for €35 million.

Bournemouth Pushing to Sign Rayan

While Lazio are hoping to pounce on Vasco’s dire need to raise cash and settle their accounts, the Brazilians could be offered more favorable terms by another suitor. According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, Bournemouth are now pushing to sign Rayan, as they could hand the Biancocelesti another transfer blow.

Bournemouth Had Already Overtaken Lazio in Alex Toth Race

The Cherries have already usurped Lazio in the race for young Hungarian midfielder Alex Toth by presenting Ferencvaros with a higher bid. Therefore, Lazio’s low-ball offer for Rayan could pave the way for a replicated scenario.
