West Bromwich Albion have added quality to their squad during the summer transfer window.

Ryan Mason hasn’t wasted time moulding his side, acquiring the likes of Aune Heggebø, Nat Phillips, George Campbell, Krystian Bielik and Toby Collyer respectively.

However, with deadline day growing ever closer, time is running out for the Baggies to offload any of their unwanted assets.

Jed Wallace joined West Brom on a free transfer from Millwall in the summer of 2022 and immediately endeared himself to the Hawthorns’ faithful, but has seen his influence on the team lessen in recent times.

With just a year remaining on his deal and competition stiff within the Albion rinks, it seems unlikely that the 31-year-old will wrestle his place in the squad back.

West Bromwich Albion told to cash in on Jed Wallace

This has led to some questioning the forward’s immediate future with the Black Country outfit, and Football League World's West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess, believes a sale may be the best option for both parties.

“With just one year left on Jed Wallace's contract, now is probably the time to cash in,” stated Callum.

“Even though he's a great person to have in the Albion dressing room, there has been a notable drop-off in quality from the first six months of his time at Albion, where he did look quite sharp.

"Coming back off the end of his time at Millwall, he was such a good Championship player.

“But I think since then there's been a notable drop-off in quality in the player that we do see now unfortunately. Although he's a club captain, a great person in the dressing room, I think he probably should try to get a move somewhere else, probably to a bottom half Championship team.

“That’s probably around his level, where he's going to come in and potentially be one of their better players and have more of a chance to start every week.

“We've got Tom Fellows, one of the best wingers in the division, and we are starting to see that Wallace is having less and less of an impact.

"So, I think that definitely now is the time to let him go and try to get another winger in who's probably coming with a fair bit of potential, who could look to take over from Fellows if he does go.

“But I’m definitely of the opinion that we should be letting go of Wallace.”

Jed Wallace could benefit from a West Bromwich Albion exit

As things stand, it looks like Wallace may have to settle for a rotational role at the Hawthorns under Mason, having started on the bench in the Baggies’ first three games of the 2025/26 campaign.

If the 31-year-old is content with this, then his skillset could be useful for West Brom throughout the season.

However, the forward still has plenty of football left to play in his career and won’t want to waste time in a squad where he isn’t likely to start.
