Nottingham Forest remain active in the January market as the window enters its final days, with Sean Dyche again stressing how tough mid-season deals can be and that Evangelos Marinakis is prepared to back him.
According to Nottingham Post, Napoli loanee Lorenzo Lucca is the only signing so far this month, and further arrivals and exits are possible before Monday's 7pm deadline.
Dyche said activity will depend on availability. He indicated outgoings could happen, but the focus is more likely on additions. He called January probably the most difficult window and said Forest are trying to complete several situations.
Another striker is being sought alongside Lucca. Forest have shown interest in Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, though they may lose out to AC Milan. A full-back is on the list, midfield cover is possible and a goalkeeper has been assessed.
Dyche wants Premier League experience to aid a survival fight, but he must balance numbers with registration rules for the Premier League and Europa League, and not all players qualify for both lists. Arnaud Kalimuendo has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan and Douglas Luiz has departed after his Juventus loan was cut short. Other fringe players could leave to keep the squad manageable.
He said adding experience would help a group still learning about the division, while many clubs are reluctant to let players go in January. Next up is Crystal Palace at the City Ground on Sunday, 2pm kick-off.
