Crystal Palace and chairman Steve Parish appeared to take aim at Nottingham Forest and owner Evangelos Marinakis after their Conference League triumph.

Palace beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in Leipzig on Wednesday to secure their first European trophy, booking Europa League football next season. "To be in Europe, travelling round Europe (is one thing) but to come and win it is incredible and it hasn't really sunk it," he told TNT Sports.

The Eagles had been due to play in that competition this season after their 2025 FA Cup win, but were demoted for breaching multi-club ownership rules. Forest took their place and Vitor Pereira’s side lost to Aston Villa in the semi-finals. Last summer’s wrangle over entries left a lingering edge between the clubs.

"It just shows that sometimes the good guys win in the end, I think."

Palace’s X account also appeared to take aim at Forest and Marinakis, posting alongside an image of departing manager Oliver Glasner: “At the end of the day, we always win…”. The caption appeared to reference Marinakis’s identical line when Morgan Gibbs-White signed a new Forest deal last summer after being close to joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Glasner said it felt like a one-year delay to the Europa League after the FA Cup, telling his players they were now getting what they deserved and that sometimes you have to take a round trip to get there.
