Sky Sports News reports that Nottingham Forest are in talks with Ligue 1 club Rennes over the potential signing of striker Arnaud Kalimuendo. The 23-year-old France international has attracted strong interest in the final weeks of the transfer window, and Forest appear keen to push forward in negotiations.
Kalimuendo, a product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, has been one of Ligue 1’s most consistent forwards in recent seasons. Since joining Rennes, he has recorded 40 goals and 14 assists in 112 appearances, underlining his ability to deliver both goals and creativity at the highest level.
RB Leipzig and Villarreal have both shown interest in the striker, but Leipzig are now focusing their efforts on finalising a deal for Romulo. Several other Premier League clubs have also been tracking Kalimuendo, making this a competitive chase.

One source told Sky Sports, “The 23-year-old France international is among the most sought-after forwards in the final weeks of the window,” which reinforces the urgency for Forest to conclude talks swiftly if they are to secure their target.
Forest’s interest in Kalimuendo fits their recent transfer strategy of targeting players with proven top-flight experience and potential resale value. Kalimuendo’s age and track record in Ligue 1 make him an appealing prospect for a side looking to strengthen their attacking options.
Forest’s recruitment team has been active in identifying forwards who can adapt to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. Kalimuendo’s technical skill, combined with his ability to operate both centrally and in wide attacking roles, could provide versatility for Steve Cooper’s squad.
Kalimuendo’s career path suggests resilience and progression. Breaking through at PSG before making the move to Rennes, he has demonstrated the ability to adapt quickly and maintain a consistent output. His mix of pace, movement and composure in front of goal could be exactly what Forest need to add extra firepower.
If Forest complete the deal, it would represent another statement of intent in a competitive transfer window. His arrival could also ease the goalscoring burden currently placed on the club’s existing strikers, offering more depth ahead of a demanding Premier League season.
From a Nottingham Forest fan’s perspective, this potential signing is hugely exciting. Kalimuendo’s stats in France speak for themselves, and while Ligue 1 can differ in tempo compared to the Premier League, his movement and clinical finishing suggest he could transition effectively.
Forest supporters have been calling for a forward who can not only score but also link play and create opportunities for others. With 40 goals and 14 assists already under his belt at just 23, Kalimuendo ticks that box. He has the experience of playing in a top European league and is used to competing against high-level defences, which bodes well for adapting to English football.
This deal would also send a strong message about Forest’s ambitions. Signing a player wanted by clubs like RB Leipzig and Villarreal shows intent to compete for quality targets, not just settle for late-window opportunism. Fans will hope the club can move quickly before rivals step in.
Should the deal be completed, the City Ground could soon be welcoming a striker with the potential to become a fan favourite. The thought of Kalimuendo linking up with Forest’s creative players is something supporters will already be picturing, and the anticipation is building.
