Nottingham Forest head coach Vitor Pereira says Brazilian defender Murillo will miss Friday evening’s Premier League trip to Sunderland with a muscle problem. According to Sunderland Echo, he declined to predict a return and accepted that involvement at the Stadium of Light would be unlikely.

Forest arrive five points above the drop after a five-match unbeaten league run, including a 4-1 win over Burnley last weekend. They are also preparing for a Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa next week.

Pereira said winger Dan Ndoye is available again after missing the Burnley victory.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is out for the rest of the season after surgery on his right quadriceps. Pereira said he is recovering well and that the priority is a full recovery so he can return to his previous level.

Assessing Sunderland, Pereira praised their consistency and the backing they receive at home, noting they are 10 points ahead of Forest. He stressed his respect for them but reiterated the focus remains on his own side.
