According to Rik Elfrink, Nottingham Forest are finally close to completing the signing of Ibrahim Sangaré from PSV Eindhoven. The midfielder will travel to England this afternoon after the two sides reached an agreement in principle. PSV will receive more than €35m for the 25-year-old, as long as everything is agreed and over the line before Friday’s transfer deadline.
On Thursday night, PSV reportedly rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest and Ibrahim Sangaré was unsure whether or not he wanted to join the Premier League club. Forest have immediately bounced back and they’re currently making progress. The Reds are determined to sign Sangaré. They’ve been interested in the midfielder all summer and now they want to get the deal done before it’s too late.
Sangaré has been a crucial player for PSV ever since he signed from Toulouse in 2020. The player has four years remaining on his current contract and is a fan favourite at the Philips Stadion. Last season Ibrahim Sangaré featured 45 times in all competitions as PSV finished second in the Eredivisie and lifted the KNVB Cup. The 31-time Ivory Coast international scored eight goals and provided three assists. He could be exactly what Nottingham Forest needs to push on in the Premier League this season.
