Nottingham Forest have confirmed the departure of head of football development Craig Mulholland after three years at the club, as he leaves to become chief football officer at the Scottish FA. His exit comes at the start of a key summer as the Reds aim to steer clear of another relegation fight next season.
The club said in a statement that Mulholland, as head of football development and talent management, helped shape football strategy across the academy, women’s and men’s first teams. Forest thanked him for his contribution.
Based at the Nigel Doughty Academy, his remit covered loans, emerging talent and recruitment. He also oversaw first-team transition, player pathways, the B team and the men’s academy.
Mulholland previously served the SFA as assistant football development officer, football development officer and senior youth development officer. He then spent two decades with Rangers from 2003, including spells as academy operations manager and academy director.
The SFA role represents a return to familiar ground. Mulholland is unlikely to be the only departure from the City Ground this summer.
