Nottingham Forest have signed goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno from Manchester City on a short-term deal to the end of the season, becoming their second January addition, the club said in a statement.

The move was framed as the arrival of an experienced, title-winning goalkeeper who will raise competition within the group and help on and off the pitch.

The announcement cites terms to the end of the season, and also refers to a permanent move to the City Ground lasting until June 2026.

Striker Lorenzo Lucca was the first January addition and will spend the rest of the season on loan from Napoli.

Ortega will compete with first-choice Matz Sels. John Victor had been in that role this season but is expected to miss the rest of the campaign after knee surgery.

He made 56 appearances for City and was part of the 2022/23 Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League treble winners. Before moving to the Premier League in 2022, he played in Germany, notably across two spells at Arminia Bielefeld with 220 games and promotion to the Bundesliga in 2020.
