Nottingham Forest consider ending Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest are exploring the possibility of ending Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan deal this month, per BBC Sport. 

The 29-year-old joined Forest on a season-long loan in the summer. 

But he has failed to make a major impact at the City Ground, featuring only five times in the Premier League. 

The Tricky Trees are considering ending the left-back’s loan spell this month. 

But a potential return to Arsenal is complicated because there is no break clause in the agreement that allows the deal to be halted before its expiry. 

The Gunners also have a full squad, making it even more difficult for Zinchenko’s return. 

The Ukrainian began his career with Russian outfit Ufa before landing a big move to Manchester City in 2016. 

He made 128 appearances to help City win four Premier League titles before joining Arsenal in 2022. 

Zinchenko was a key member of Mikel Arteta’s first-team during the first two seasons, but fell out of favour after the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly and the signing of Riccardo Calafiori. 

He joined Forest in a bid to revive his career, but the move hasn’t worked out for him. 

The Reds have had a quiet winter transfer window, which is consistent with what head coach Sean Dyche has been saying. 

They haven’t made any new additions to the squad, while Arnaud Kalimuendo’s loan departure represents their only dealings so far this month.
