Tottenham have had a busy couple of days in the transfer market, and the future of Lucas Bergvall is now the latest issue in the spotlight.

Despite arriving in North London with high expectations, the 20-year-old Swedish international is actively seeking a move away this summer.

Bergvall’s main motivation is to secure regular first-team football, particularly in his preferred number 8 role. Midfield opportunities at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have become increasingly scarce.

Since the arrival of manager Roberto De Zerbi, Bergvall has played just 112 minutes across seven games. With Spurs heavily restructuring their squad—securing marquee deals for midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes—the youngster fears his development could stall ahead of the new season.

Fresh off his World Cup campaign with Sweden, Bergvall has made his intentions clear: he wants consistent minutes on the pitch, a luxury Tottenham appear unable to guarantee.

Nottingham Forest have emerged as frontrunners to capitalise on the uncertainty. The Tricky Trees are actively seeking midfield reinforcements, particularly to fill the void left by Elliot Anderson.

Forest are keen to strike a deal for the Swedish prodigy and are positioning themselves to move quickly. The transfer fee for Bergvall is expected to be around £45 million, a substantial sum that reflects his long-term potential.

To sweeten the deal for Tottenham, Forest are ready to include a sell-on clause, ensuring Spurs benefit from any future high-profile transfer.

While Bergvall remains keen to leave, Tottenham’s stance complicates matters. The Spurs hierarchy has informed Bergvall they want him to stay.

However, with several senior midfielders competing for just two spots in De Zerbi’s system, a £45 million windfall could prove too tempting for Tottenham to turn down.
