Nottingham Forest are eyeing Fulham boss Marco Silva, according to the Daily Mail.
Forest replaced Nuno Espirito Santo with Ange Postecoglou on September 9, but the latter has had a torrid time.
They are winless in seven games (L5, D2) under Postecoglou. They rank 14th in the Premier League for goals conceded.
The club have yet to decide what to do with Postecoglou, but are keeping tabs on Silva. He has done a remarkable job in the Premier League, keeping the Cottagers away from the relegation zone.
Silva’s contract has a massive release clause that has deterred several clubs. Forest may decide to wait it out with Silva as his deal expires at the end of the season.
However, results could prompt chairman Evangelos Marinakis to act swiftly by swooping for the Portuguese manager.
If Marinakis is only keen on managers currently out of work, Xavi Hernandez is an option.
The former Barcelona boss is reportedly eager for a Premier League role, and Forest could offer the perfect entry point.
Xavi’s title-winning Barca side combined fluid attacking football with defensive steel.
They conceded just 20 goals across the 2022/23 La Liga season. That balance is precisely what Forest need.
With no other vacancies on the horizon, the timing is ideal. A bold move for Xavi could transform Forest’s season and finally bring structure to a squad that is crying out for an identity.
