Nottingham Forest fans have been commenting post-match after losing 2-0 to Newcastle United.
An interesting range of views…
Intriguing to read what they have been saying about Newcastle United.
Plus of course, what they’ve had to say on Ange Postecoglou who made it seven matches without a win, since he took over from Nuno.
Nottingham Forest fans have seen their team lose five games in a row against Eddie Howe’s NUFC, seven defeats in eight in total since Howe arrived at St James’ Park and Forest got promoted.
Nottingham Forest fans comment via their LTLF message board:
‘Newcastle never even got out of 2nd gear today and we never looked like laying a glove on them.
Ange went out to not get hammered, and he achieved that. But we wouldn’t have won that game if we played it 100 times.’
‘Just to cap it all I’ve broken down travelling back south on the A19 and the recovery driver is a Newcastle fan – I’ve got another 2 hours of this – think I might fake sleep !!’
‘Thanks to the Geordie joker on the Metro who told me Postecoglou had been sacked. Tosser.’
‘He was just trying to make you feel better…. temporarily….’
‘I have said for the last two seasons that Newcastle’s strength is their bully boy midfield. The only possible way for us to compete with Newcastle is to battle them in the centre of the pitch by matching up, yet we constantly set up with two in midfield against them and, lo and behold, the result is always the same.’
‘Any manager that’s wanting to have higher possession and play further forward needs to play a 3 man midfield. Playing 2 is fine with a low block because there’s no midfield battle to be won.’
‘I’ve a feeling that the footage of Tonali cheating won’t be widely available. I was so shocked when I saw it.’
‘Unfortunately, these type of things are just dark arts of football, and if you feel like you are constantly like you’re on the wrong end of these type of decisions, its because you’re not very good at them. We seem to always be the ‘hard done by’ victim.’
‘The club have really exacerbated this victim mentality too.
Every club feels hard done by with decisions every game. There’s always inconsistency or precedent that people want to pull up when their team don’t get a call which is conveniently ignored when we do get one.’
‘That ref was giving us nothing and them everything today’
‘The Geordies had more to moan about than we did.
There’s being justifiably critical, and there’s being daft.’
‘Can we talk about Joelinton being allowed to do LITERALLY ANYTHING without getting booked while players like Yates and Williams get yellow cards for simply being present on the pitch? Pathetic.’
‘I like the Brazilian players we’re had but Joelinton and Guimaraes are such be..ends I wouldn’t want anything to do with either of them at Forest.’
‘They’re both good players but I just don’t like em. Stick them in the same box as Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho, Richarlison, Cucurella, etc.’
‘I get where you’re coming from but I’d absolutely love Joelinton at Forest.’
‘Joelinton is a thug and a liability.’
‘I thought we were bullied yesterday and were way too nice at times. Too easy to play against in so many ways.’
‘Watching the game back it was disappointing the way we kept backing down when the confrontations were kicking off. You’ve got to stand up to the likes of Joelinton and Guimaraes, not back down.
When Guimaraes went over for the penalty we should have been all round him calling him a diving cheat. Likewise when Tonali cheated. But there’s only Milenkovic stepping forward. We should all be in this together, fighting for each other.’
‘We are just conceding the midfield currently and the opposition’s midfield are onto our back 4 / 5 at will. Anyway Impostercoglou won’t figure any of that out – he’s useless; said it all along. FFS get rid!!!’
‘I could see Howe going for Williams. Tripper hasn’t got long left and needs replacing.
It’s things like this that make me even more concerned as we can easily start losing players that we don’t want to lose in January.’
‘I think this is the most incompetent (or bent) referee we have had for a long time and that’s saying something. No yellows for Newcastle, despite multiple fouls, MGW was wiped out before there first goal.’
‘The ref was fine. We seen to have become a team that is incapable of playing without climbing all over the opposition, holding them, pulling shirts. I know all teams do it to an extent but we are way too ‘handsy’. Refs see that and it skews their opinion of 50:50 challenges.’
‘Williams got booked for letting the Newcastle player lay a foot on him. They’ve always cheated right back to 1974.’
‘I think the stat is that now we’ve lost 9 out of the last 10 league games we have played at SJP so result as expected.
Dogged and determined in the 1st half but in reality unable to sustain it for the 2nd. Their danger men that I feared (Gordon, Elanga, giant) were contained well, but in the end their midfield out s..thoused us. Sloppy play for the first, sloppy for the 2nd and a fair result in the end.’
‘We were fortunate not to concede 5 or 6 in the 2nd half.’
‘Second half showed the difference between a team playing an established style in a settled formation, with everyone knowing their jobs to the tee, and another outfit trying to guess their way up the pitch.’
