According to Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are in talks with Chelsea over a loan for Liam Delap as Oliver Glasner eyes two major signings before the window closes.

Glasner’s tenure began with a 1-0 home defeat by Leeds on Saturday, and the sides meet again in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Delap has been made available at Stamford Bridge and was left out of Chelsea’s opening-day squad against Fulham. He fits Forest’s striker profile and has been on the club’s and Glasner’s list since his Crystal Palace days.

Delap held talks with Forest last year and is understood to have spoken with Glasner while he was at Crystal Palace. He has scored one Premier League goal for Chelsea since a £30m move from Ipswich last summer.

After switching to a back three, Glasner wants extra competition at right wing-back and holds interest in Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy.

Murphy, a former England under-21 international, has spent almost a decade at Newcastle and produced eight goals and 12 assists in 2024-25.

Glasner said he is very confident of adding two high-quality players and will not sign simply to add numbers. He added that the club know their targets and are working to complete the deals.

Forest could also approve several departures before the window closes, with £30m signing Dilane Bakwa attracting loan interest from Ipswich, Hull City and Fiorentina. Arnaud Kalimuendo, a £26m arrival from Rennes last summer, is now expected to stay after impressing in pre-season.
