Nottingham Forest said in a statement that there are currently no plans for a pitch inspection before this evening’s Europa League match at Braga. The game is set to go ahead as scheduled, with updates promised if circumstances change, and supporters urged to travel early due to the weather.
The Reds face the Portuguese side in their penultimate league phase fixture at eight pm. Heavy rain has fallen in Braga in the build-up.
Forest checked the surface on Wednesday after arriving in Portugal. Conditions had eased by then, although it had been heavy earlier.
They come into the tie encouraged by Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to Arsenal in the Premier League. Sustaining that feelgood mood is the aim as they push for progress in Europe.
Victory over Braga would leave Sean Dyche’s team well placed to finish in the top eight of the league phase standings. That would take them straight into the round of 16, avoiding a two-legged play-off.
