Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca has reportedly given the green light for a transfer to Lazio as part of the Mario Gila operation.
The Partenopei have identified the Spanish defender as their top target for the summer, but they are unwilling to match Claudio Lotito’s €30 million asking price. Instead, they are prepared to offer €20 million, in addition to sending one of their players to the Italian capital on loan with an option to buy next summer.
While Rafa Marin and Sam Beukema were some of the names that were floated in the media, Lucca emerged as the most plausible option. The 25-year-old striker only joined Napoli last summer on a €35 million deal from Udinese, but Antonio Conte kept him on the bench in favor of Rasmus Hojlund. In January, the Italian international joined Nottingham Forest on loan, but only scored once in nine appearances.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lucca is ‘totally open’ to signing for Lazio, despite interest from Genoa. The Moncalieri native is a profile admired by Gennaro Gattuso, who is desperate for a new centre-forward.
Pedulla adds that Lucca’s arrival could prompt the departure of Petar Ratkov, who arrived on a €13 million transfer from RB Salzburg in January, but has thus far failed to settle at Formello. However, the journalist didn’t specify whether the Serbian striker will be sold or loaned out, though this could hinge on the offers.
