Nottingham Forest are lining up Oliver Glasner to replace Vitor Pereira, a move that would bring a fifth head coach in 12 months little more than seven weeks before the Premier League restarts.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Glasner will sign a three-year contract. The former Crystal Palace boss is a free agent after leaving the Eagles at the end of last season.

Forest have confirmed Pereira’s dismissal after he had already issued a message about his departure. Appointed in February, he kept the club up with two games to spare and led a Europa League semi-final run.

He had one year left, with a June break clause allowing either party to end the deal. He was told of the decision at 11.58pm on the final day of the month.

Pereira was Forest’s fourth manager of the 2025/26 campaign, following Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche.

Forest plan to recognise Elliot Anderson’s contribution after his £116 million move to Manchester City, a record fee for an English player that surpasses the £105m paid for Declan Rice.

Anderson is with England at the World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel’s side preparing to face Mexico in the last 16 at 1am BST on Monday.

Forest have added home friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday, August 12, 7.45pm, and Stade Brestois on Sunday, August 16, 2pm. They had already confirmed Notts County and a Portugal camp with Blackburn Rovers, Vitoria de Guimaraes and Sporting Lisbon.
