Nottingham Forest emerged with a 2-2 draw at Anfield, with Dan Ndoye and Morgan Gibbs-White scoring either side of the break, but Liverpool twice hit back to level. James McAtee led the ratings on a strong afternoon for Oliver Glasner’s side.

As reported by Nottingham Post, Forest arrived after back-to-back defeats to Leeds United in the league and Carabao Cup, looking to jolt their season into gear.

Neco Williams produced a last-ditch tackle to deny Cody Gakpo before Igor Jesus had a close-range effort blocked on the line from Dan Ndoye’s cushioned header off Ola Aina’s cross.

Ndoye struck on 24 minutes, finishing coolly after Matz Sels’ long kick was held up by Jesus and laid off by Gibbs-White. Florian Wirtz had a finish ruled out for offside by VAR soon after, then Sels tipped over the same player’s header.

Alisson then pushed Jesus’ strike onto the woodwork on the stroke of half-time. Alexander Isak levelled on the hour from Gakpo’s cross. Gibbs-White restored the lead from the spot with 20 minutes remaining after Williams was felled by Alisson, before Victor Munoz made it 2-2 on 82 minutes.

McAtee was rated eight out of 10. Jair Cunha, Aina, Gibbs-White and Ndoye earned seven and a half, with Sels on six and a half despite his part in the opener and a fine save. Murillo received five out of 10, while substitute Liam Delap impressed with seven out of 10 after a quick throw helped win the penalty.
