Nottingham Forest earned a significant Europa League victory as Igor Jesus struck late to seal a 2-1 win at Utrecht, preserving their unbeaten European run under Sean Dyche and boosting hopes of finishing in the competition’s top eight.

Forest started brightly. Callum Hudson-Odoi twice went close, Oleksandr Zinchenko missed from close range after neat interplay, and Morato saw a header cleared before 15 minutes. Douglas Luiz tested the keeper, then Miguel Rodriguez drew a strong save from John Victor at Stadion Galgenwaard. According to Nottingham Post, Sarah Clapson delivered mixed player ratings after the game.

After the break, Arnaud Kalimuendo pounced on Siebe Horemans’ poor clearance to score on 52 minutes, then struck the post soon after. Utrecht levelled on 72 when Mike van der Hoorn got on the end of a free-kick.

Just as a draw beckoned, Jesus struck the winner, with Morgan Gibbs-White involved in the build-up and Hudson-Odoi providing the cross.

Top marks went to Nicolas Dominguez and Jesus at 7.5. Kalimuendo and Hudson-Odoi were given 7, with Murillo and Douglas Luiz also on 7. Zach Abbott and Morato scored 6.5, while Dan Ndoye and James McAtee received 5.
