Alexis Mac Allister scored deep into added time to give Liverpool a 1-0 win at the City Ground, denying Vitor Pereira a point in his first home match as Nottingham Forest head coach.

According to Nottingham Post, Ibrahim Sangare topped the Forest ratings with nine out of 10 after running midfield, with Murillo, Neco Williams and Elliot Anderson each marked at eight and a half.

Forest, fresh from a 3-0 Europa League win over Fenerbahce in Istanbul, started on the front foot. Callum Hudson-Odoi shot straight at Alisson after three minutes from Sangare’s pass, then Anderson drove wide on 10 minutes.

Murillo had a free-kick blocked and Igor Jesus was denied after Omari Hutchinson’s cut-back, while Nikola Milenkovic and Anderson both missed the target before the break. After half-time Milenkovic headed wide and Liverpool began to see more of the ball.

Stefan Ortega produced a fine stop to thwart Curtis Jones before late drama. VAR first ruled out a Mac Allister effort for handball, then the midfielder scored again and an offside check confirmed the decisive goal in stoppage time.

Ola Aina and Milenkovic were given eight, Ortega seven and a half, Morgan Gibbs-White eight, Hutchinson six and a half, Hudson-Odoi six and Jesus seven. From the bench, Nicolas Dominguez earned seven, with Dan Ndoye, Lorenzo Lucca and James McAtee on six and Dilane Bakwa five.
