Nottingham Forest have sacked Sean Dyche overnight, their third managerial change of the season, after a goalless draw left them in relegation trouble.

Forest issued a 12.31am Thursday statement confirming his dismissal and thanking Dyche and his staff, adding there would be no further comment. The Guardian reports that Forest are interested in Vitor Pereira, sacked by Wolves in November and previously under Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos, and that he has held talks, with his man-management viewed as important.

Dyche was appointed in October and nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month in January. Results dipped this month, with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, a 3-1 defeat by Leeds, then a 0-0 at home to rock-bottom Wolves despite 34 shots.

Dyche is the third Forest boss dismissed by Evangelos Marinakis this season, and the second to go after midnight. Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked in September, while Ange Postecoglou left 20 minutes after a defeat to Chelsea in October.

Any incoming manager will have a week to prepare for the Europa League play-off first leg against Fenerbahce, with no FA Cup tie after last month’s loss to Wrexham.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur sacked Thomas Frank on Wednesday, slipping below Leeds after a 2-1 home loss to Newcastle while Daniel Farke’s side drew at Chelsea. Leeds and Burnley are the only bottom-six teams yet to change manager. Burnley look set for relegation despite beating Crystal Palace, and Farke’s revival has brought two defeats in 13 since November.
