Nottingham Forest see second Jacob Murphy bid 'rejected' | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest have seen a second bid for Jacob Murphy rejected by Newcastle United, Daily Mail reports. The latest offer, worth £15m, followed an initial £10m approach over the weekend.

Deadline day has been quiet so far, with academy youngster Josh Powell the only confirmed move, joining Northampton Town on loan.

Murphy is into the final year of his St James’ Park contract. Magpies boss Matthias Jaissle is said to be keen to keep hold of the versatile winger, and a contract extension may be considered.

The 31-year-old’s experience and flexibility would appeal to Forest. He could operate as a wing-back or in one of the two No.10 roles in Oliver Glasner’s system. Even so, his age and contract position suggest Forest would have a ceiling on what they are prepared to pay.

Daniel Munoz became the fifth arrival on Monday after signing from Crystal Palace, following Xaver Schlager, Ousmane Diomande, Steven Benda and Liam Delap.

After Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool, head coach Glasner said up to three additions could arrive before the 11pm deadline. Munoz filled one of those slots, but other deals have not yet been completed. Forest have looked at midfield options, with no progress on Everton’s Harrison Armstrong or Liverpool’s Trey Nyoni, and a late move for a goalkeeper could yet emerge amid links to Liverpool’s Giorgi Mamardashvili and Palace's Dean Henderson.
