Nottingham Forest could strengthen significantly this summer, with the club-record sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City expected to bankroll recruitment, Daily Mail reports.
The Reds are said to be confident of meeting Premier League financial rules for 2025/26, with the £116million due for Anderson leaving them well placed for 2026/27.
If the fee is booked after 1 July, the start of football’s new financial year, it is thought to enable a minimum of three to four signings.
Central midfield is a priority, with Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall and Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood all linked.
Forest are also likely to seek attacking options as Vitor Pereira targets more goals and aims to lessen reliance on Chris Wood.
The sale is also expected to help Forest keep Morgan Gibbs-White, around whom Pereira wants to build, while Murillo and Neco Williams could be retained despite speculation. Anderson’s departure is likely to be announced in the coming days.
