Nottingham Forest will be searching for their first Premier League victory under new manager Ange Postecoglou when they host an impressive Sunderland side at the City Ground on Saturday.
The hosts are winless in four games since Postecoglou’s arrival and are in desperate need of a result. The newly-promoted Black Cats, meanwhile, sit seventh after a superb and resilient start to the season.
Nottingham Forest will be without midfielder Douglas Luiz for the match against Sunderland after he was forced off against Real Betis in midweek. Ola Aina also remains sidelined. However, there is some positive news on the injury front, as defender Murillo has returned to light training following the injury he sustained against Arsenal. Igor Jesus is pushing for a start after scoring twice in midweek, but Chris Wood is expected to be recalled to lead the line.
The visitors are without club-record signing Habib Diarra until December, while Reinildo Mandava is suspended following his red card against Aston Villa. Régis Le Bris has a number of other injuries to contend with, but he is boosted by the return of Luke O’Nien to the squad.
Forest are without a win under their new manager, having drawn their last two games against Burnley and Real Betis. Their home form is a major concern, having lost four of their last six Premier League matches at the City Ground. They have struggled for goals, scoring just five times in five league games.
The Black Cats are in excellent form, unbeaten in their last three league games and sitting seventh in the table. They have been remarkably resilient, earning a draw with 10 men against Aston Villa last weekend. However, they are yet to score a goal in the first half of any Premier League match this season.
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Zinchenko; Sangare, Anderson; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Sunderland predicted XI: Roefs; Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete, Masuaku; Rigg, Xhaka, Sadiki; Talbi, Isidor, Le Fee
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League in the UK. Coverage begins at 5:00 pm BST.
