Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to sign Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong. According to NY Times, talks are focused on a package worth around £40m plus a sell-on clause.
The 19-year-old has made 22 first-team appearances for Everton. He spent time on loan at Derby County and Preston North End, then was integrated into David Moyes’s senior squad after returning earlier this year.
Forest want to reinforce central midfield after England international Elliot Anderson joined Manchester City for £116m ($153m) earlier in the window.
Austria international Xaver Schlager arrived as a free agent following his departure from RB Leipzig this summer and has featured in Forest’s opening two matches. The club remain hopeful of adding another option to Oliver Glasner’s squad.
Everton’s midfield has also been reshaped. Hayden Hackney and Christian Norgaard have joined from Middlesbrough and Arsenal respectively, while Merlin Rohl’s move from Freiburg was made permanent after a loan.
