Sean Dyche says Ryan Yates is making encouraging progress in his recovery, while Ola Aina has stepped up his return as Nottingham Forest prepare to host Manchester City on Saturday.

Club captain Yates was forced off about 15 minutes after coming on at half-time during the defeat at Everton earlier this month. A long absence was initially feared, but he is back running on the grass, albeit not yet with the group, and could return sooner than first thought. With Ibrahim Sangare at AFCON, his comeback would bolster midfield options.

There is still no timeframe for Chris Wood’s knee problem.

Aina, out since September after hamstring surgery, is edging closer. He played for the B Team on Monday night and came through injury free, which marked another step forward.

Forest lost 1-0 at Fulham the same evening, when John Victor kept his place and Matz Sels was on the bench. Sels had trained only four days in 11 due to a finger issue and a groin strain. He is likely to start this weekend, with kick-off at 12.30pm.
