Everton striker Beto is confident that he will improve his performances in the upcoming season for the Toffees as he has had more time to adapt to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old Portuguese forward joined Everton last season from Italian club Udinese on a four-year deal.

His debut season in the Premier League however did not go as planned as Beto scored only three goals in his 30 league appearances, playing mostly second fiddle to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Toffees forward admitted that his first season with Everton was difficult as it took him time to adjust mentally and physically to English football.

Beto is fully focused on redeeming himself and he is confident that he will perform better in the upcoming season.

“It was really tough. I don’t think I adjusted well”, Beto told BBC Sport when he was asked about his opening season with the Merseyside club.

“Now I know the Premier League and what I can do to get better, to create more chances and help the team score more goals.

“I just need to be more open physically to do what I want to do.

“Last season was tough mentally and physically. We managed to do our objective so it was good. We went on holiday with free minds and now we come back fresh and new.”

Now it remains to be seen if Beto will be able to pose a firm challenge against Calvert-Lewin and be the Toffees’ first-choice striker in the new season.
