The Paris FC defender aims to cement his place in Les Fennecs squad before AFCON 2025

"Now it’s up to me to prove I deserve it": Samir Chergui’s message to Algeria coach
Algerian defender Samir Chergui has issued clear statement of intent to head coach Vladimir Petkovic expressing his determination to earn permanent spot in the national team as Algeria gear up for their November training camp and upcoming friendlies against Zimbabwe & Saudi Arabia.
The 26 year old Paris FC right-back made his international debut last month as substitute in Algeria’s 2-0 victory over Uganda — a result that sealed their top spot in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
"It’s great honour to be called up for the second time" he said. "Representing Algeria fills me with pride and I’m working hard to stay in the squad. I’ll give double the effort on the pitch to achieve that"
Chergui stressed the importance of the upcoming matches in Jeddah (13 & 18 November) viewing them as vital tests ahead of AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
"Being part of the national team is huge motivation" he concluded. "Now it’s up to me to prove I deserve it every single game"
