It has now been revealed how long Tino Livramento is expected to be missing for Newcastle United.

The England star was stretchered off after a cowardly and cynical challenge from William Saliba.

Tino Livramento jumping to head the ball but the Arsenal defender choosing not to try and win the header, instead waiting for the Newcastle player to jump and then on purpose running into Livramento when he was in mid-air and causing the injury.

Tino Livramento previously ruptured his ACL when he was at Southampton in 2022 and there were fears he had done the same again.

The great news is that this isn’t the case.

Instead, after seeing a specialist, Sky Sports have now made public that the Newcastle star is set to miss between six and eight weeks of action.

With such a busy match schedule (see below) this is almost certain to mean double figures in terms of Newcastle United matches missed. However, compared to what we all feared, this is surely a best case scenario following that cowardly challenge by Saliba. A challenge that somehow didn’t even get a yellow card, never mind the red it deserved.

Sky Sports News update on Tino Livramento (via Adrian Kajumba and Keith Downie) – 1 October 2025:

‘Tino Livramento is facing 6-8 weeks out after injuring his knee ligaments against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Newcastle full-back had further scans on his knee yesterday, with club medics seeking a second opinion on the initial diagnosis.

The injury was sustained on impact while challenging for a header with William Saliba, and not upon landing.

The good news is Livramento hasn’t ruptured his ACL, but he’s set for a 6-8 week rehab period, meaning he’s set to miss around the next 10 matches.

Livramento previously ruptured his ACL when he was at Southampton in 2022, and there were initial fears he’d done the same again.

The 22-year-old isn’t with the squad in Belgium for their Champions League match against USG tonight.

Livramento was a part of Thomas Tuchel’s England set-up for the September internationals.’
