Another nine matches of the third round of games following on Thursday, after Newcastle 3 Benfica 0 had been one of the nine on Tuesday.

A couple of NUFC players featuring high up in the Champions League scorers list.

UEFA also updating their list when it comes to players with most assists so far in the Champions League, another United player featuring high up in that one.

Early days of course but some great Newcastle United contributions so far.

Most goals in the 2025/26 Champions League

5 Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) 5 Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) 4 Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United) 4 Erling Haaland (Man City) 4 Marcus Rashford (Barcelona) 3 Harvey Barnes (Newcastle United) 3 Fermin Lopez (Barcelona) 3 Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) 3 Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan) 3 Victor Osmihen (Galatasaray) 3 Gorka Guruzeta (Athletic Bilbao) 3 Igor Paixao (Marseille) 3 Felix Nmecha (Borussia Dortmund)

As you can see, only Mbappe and Kane ahead of Anthony Gordon as things stand.

Harvey Barnes is an interesting one though as well.

The supersub coming off the bench in the three Champions League matches so far and in his 72 minutes on the pitch, Barnes has scored three goals, averaging one every 24 minutes!

Most assists in the 2025/26 Champions League

3 Michael Olise (Bayern München) 2 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Marseille) 2 Jacob Murphy (Newcastle United) and a number of others on two assists, including… 2 Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund) 2 Julián Alvarez (Atleti) 2 Bradley Barcola (Paris) 2 Hakan Çalhanoğlu (Inter) 2 Kevin De Bruyne (Napoli) 2 Håkon Evjen (Bodø/Glimt) 2 Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund) 2 Achraf Hakimi (Paris) 2 Nicolas Jackson (Bayern München) 2 Nuno Mendes (Paris) 2 Lukáš Provod (Slavia Praha) 2 Guus Til (PSV)

Just as against Barcelona at St James’ Park, Jacob Murphy setting up Anthony Gordon to score against Benfica.

Special mention of course as well for Nick Pope, just the one Champions League assist (so far…) BUT what an assist!!
