Benfica director Nuno Catarino said the club are financially stable following the presentation of a €65 million bond issue. According to Glorioso 1904, he delivered the message at a special Euronext session.

Catarino described the club’s financial health as strong, calling the bond outcome a reflection of that position. He added that Benfica have stability and a significant ability to adapt to circumstances.

On the centralisation of broadcast rights, he said they do not expect any immediate negative impact on the accounts. He noted Benfica’s domestic TV rights are set at around €57 million per season, which represented an increase.

Even so, Catarino cautioned that Portuguese football requires substantial groundwork for the product to grow in value. He said the club will continue to be an active voice on the subject.

Separately, José António dos Santos has sold his stake in Benfica’s SAD to US fund Entrepreneur Equity Partners, which now holds 16.38%.
