West Ham United boss Nuno Espirito Santo has discussed the club’s transfer plans, as they chase more signings to replace key departures.

Following their relegation last season the Hammers have lost a number of players. Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville both moved for large transfer fees, whilst Callum Wilson and Freddie Potts have also left.

“When you have talented players, and get relegated, unfortunately it’s normal,” admitted the West Ham manager. “For Fernandes and Cry, it was a pleasure to work with them, and we wish them all the best.

“Until the end of the window, you have to be ready for everything, in and out.”

West Ham are now targeting reinforcements, as they hope to return to the Premier League. They are said to be interested in Axel Diasasi, Troy Parrott and Simon Adingra, and are believed to be discussing a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Manor Solomon.

Hayters also understands that Rangers midfielder Connor Barron is among their list of targets, while Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is also of interest.

After signing youngster Keiber Lamadrid earlier in the window, the Hammers confirmed the arrival of Joel Veltman yesterday.

“We’re delighted he’s here,” insisted Nuno on the former Brighton defender. “He brings experience, talent and versatility.”

On further incomings, he added: “We don’t have much time, but we don’t want to make mistakes. It’s crucial the players who come in are right, so we are taking our time to make sure we get it right.

“We identify the targets, we know the profiles and the names, so we let the club do their jobs. Nils (Koppen) is working hard every day. I don’t want to speak about specific players.

“I can speak about Axel (Disasi) about what he did when he was here, but with respect we are focused on what we have now.”

Perhaps the most significant bit of business West Ham will complete this summer is maintaining the services of Jarrod Bowen. The England international confirmed that he will continue at the London Stadium despite the relegation.

The Hammers’ boss said: “It was one of our main objectives to keep as many players as possible.

“Jarrod is committed to the club, and that’s massive for the club. He’s a fantastic player, and a fantastic boy.”
