Nuno Espirito Santo says West Ham are still assessing their squad ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Leeds United at the London Stadium, with Crysencio Summerville monitored day by day.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Summerville, the former Leeds winger now at West Ham, has been out since a calf injury in last month’s fifth round tie against Brentford, missing the last two matches and March duty with the Netherlands. There had been suggestions he could return after the international break, but his status remains under review.
Speaking on Friday, the Irons manager said players were being evaluated after the break, with some returning in good shape and others with issues. He added that any call on Summerville for Sunday would wait until he feels right and the staff are satisfied, noting there is still one day to go before decisions.
Even without Summerville, 10 Hammers were on international duty. Konstantinos Mavropanos suffered a head injury in Greece’s 1-0 defeat to Paraguay last Friday and was withdrawn with seven minutes left. He then missed Tuesday’s match against Hungary in Budapest.
There are also doubts over centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo after a calf problem in the warm-up before the Aston Villa game prior to the break, which meant he did not feature. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has not played since a September outing for the club’s under-21s because of a back injury.
