Irons boss has targets in mind as Brazilian eyes move
Nuno Espirito Santo has called for more signings before the end of the January transfer window after West Ham's 3-1 win over Sunderland.
West Ham have been busy in the market, bringing in strikers Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos as well as Venezuelan winger Keiber Lamadrid to bolster Nuno's options as West Ham look to stave off relegation to the Championship.
The Hammers have looked rejuvenated with Pablo and Castellanos in the side, and have won three successive games in all competitions for the first time since November 2023 to move within two points of 17th-place Nottingham Forest.
Nuno, though, is keen to add more players before the window closes on Monday, February 2.
“We have one week to go," Nuno told reporters on Saturday. “I still believe that we need to rebalance our squad. We need options in some positions.
“We need to become more competitive. I still believe in the work the club is doing.”
Nuno was also asked about Lucas Paqueta's future, with the Brazilian midfielder linked with a move back to boyhood club Flamengo.
Paqueta is said to be keen on the move, but West Ham are adamant he is not for sale, with reports suggesting they rejected a £35million bid for the 28-year-old.
On Paqueta, Nuno said he hoped the situation could be solved quickly as he looks to settle on his squad ahead of the second half of the season.
“What I hope is the situation to be solved as soon as possible," the West Ham boss added.
“Every part involved has to be solved and to be clear, so we have a direction to move forward.”
