Nuno Lobo criticises Benfica decision, says club did Pedro Proença a favour | OneFootball

Nuno Lobo, a Benfica member and former candidate to lead the FPF, has condemned the club’s General Assembly chair for rejecting a proposal to withdraw political and institutional backing for Pedro Proença. According to Glorioso 1904, he said the decision lacked justification.

Lobo criticised José Pereira da Costa after the chair refused to schedule the motion. He argued the club had effectively done Proença a favour.

The proposal, submitted by Lobo, was filed with the General Assembly board in early September.

He maintained the move went against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of Benfica members, accusing the club’s governing bodies of offering constant and shameful support to the FPF president.

Benfica has called an ordinary general assembly for 31 October at nine am in pavilion two at the Luz complex. The sole agenda item is the consideration and vote of the club’s 2025/26 report and accounts. The meeting will be streamed in the members’ area of the official website, with electronic voting available and an in-person option retained.
