According to Fabrizio Romano, Nuno Mendes (22) has agreed to sign a new 5-year contract at Paris Saint-Germain. The Portuguese international had been linked with a move away from the French capital in recent times but will end these reports by extending his stay at the Parc des Princes for the foreseeable future.

Manchester United were the most prominent club linked with the services of Mendes in previous times, with compatriot Ruben Amorim identifying the left-back as an ideal fit for the philosophy he is trying to instil at Old Trafford. However, after reaching a verbal agreement on a new contract in December with PSG, the Premier League outfit were forced to consider alternative targets.

A wage hike

With the 22-year-old’s new contract signed and the announcement set to follow, Mendes is set to get a wage hike following the signing of a new long-term deal. Romano understands that the left-back will become one of the top earners at the Ligue 1 champions.
