The Hammers boss also covering a number of other topics.

Nuno asked about Newcastle:

“I’ve known Eddie Howe for a while now and we’re going to face a very strong team in a good moment.

“Eddie has a fantastic squad and he’s doing a great job getting the best out of them.”

Nuno is asked about his week:

“It was a long week, but at the same time a good week. The players have committed themselves to the group, so we expect improvements.

“It’s not easy, but things need to be addressed.”

Nuno asked about team selection and tactics:

“It’s something that doesn’t please us. I would have liked to have found a solution earlier, and stuck to it. I think we have to find a solution, because it’s not been working. We’re still looking and I hope we can solve all the problems.

“There are many factors involved.

“But honestly I wish we could stick with one solution and it would click, so we could move forward.

It’s not easy for the players, and I hope we work out the solution.”

Nuno asked about on-pitch battles:

“We are working really hard on that aspect. We’re creating a dynamic in training so we have more time to work on that.

“We have to improve how players are performing. We’re working on that really hard.

“Until 1 January I’m not even thinking about transfers. I have to improve the players here. Everyone has to improve, to help the team.”

Nuno asked about playing at home:

“It’s a reality that it’s been tough – we can’t hide from that. I hope we can connect with our fans well, and that the fans can see a good performance from the start. We need to be strong at home, and we need to compete.”

Nuno asked about picking his starting eleven:

“The measure is when we come up against our opponents. I’m really positive at the moment, because the week was long. The players have worked hard, and the sessions have been good. We’ve trained, but we’ve also analysed things. On Sunday we will see what we can do.”

Nuno asked about Lucas Paquetá’s midfield battle with Bruno Guimaraes:

“It’s not only going to be in midfield, there are going to be battles everywhere.

“But we’re going to face one of the best midfields in the Premier League. I think during the game they won’t be friends! After the game they can be friends again!”

Nuno asked about Callum Wilson:

“He’s a top professional, who has understood the decisions. He’s committed to the squad, and to helping us. He can bring good things to the squad, but all members of the squad are important.”
