After a reported lockdown at Red Bull Arena led to a delayed kickoff, New York City FC got off to a flying start during their clash with Nashville on Sunday.
The sixth-ranked side took less than one minute to open the scoring against the visitors, thanks to a very alert Santiago Rodríguez.
NYCFC made only seven passes in the game as they cut through Nashville’s defense before the ball found the 24-year-old in the box.
Rodríguez used his close control skills to beat three defenders and followed up on his initially blocked shot for his 11th of the season.
That is one to forget quickly for the visitors.
