After a crazy and bonkers comeback win against the Columbus Crew, New York City FC has a quick turnaround. The Pigeons will play an early afternoon game on Saturday and will play against the team that has been their kryptonite ever since they joined Major League Soccer: Charlotte FC. The Bronx side has only won once in their seven meetings, so this will be a challenging match.
In the opposite fixture, Charlotte won at home. Hence, NYCFC will try to do the same, but the question remains about whether they can secure a second win in their history against the Crown. Of course, nothing is impossible since they won for the first time last season. Plus, the team’s recent form gives hope that the players can outplay the visitors.
However, Charlotte has won their last nine Major League Soccer games. This started when they beat NYCFC back on July 12. So, can the Boys in Blue be the team to end this winning streak? The North Carolina team has beaten teams all over the standings. And, while the Bronx side has proven they can compete with top sides in the league, Charlotte has been their kryptonite. There was more positivity entering matches like FC Cincinnati and the Columbus Crew than in this one.
NYCFC knows every one of the remaining MLS fixtures must be treated like a playoff game. The pressure will be higher than normal, especially since they want to reverse the trend of struggling against the Crown. If the Pigeons win this match, then they will officially be a team that one should rate as a top competitor for the MLS Cup trophy.

If NYCFC supporters cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via MLS Soccer’s timeline and NYCFC’s X account. Additionally, the club will post updates here and there on Facebook.
Since Saturday’s game begins at noon, this is a perfect match for families. Sometimes, the 7:30 PM starts are too late for younger kids, so some may opt out of going to those games or even some of them. Earlier matches can allow those who do not bring their kids to night games to bring them. It is also expected to be beautiful, so this would be a great day for a family outing to watch NYCFC.
