Supporters will remember that New York City FC was supposed to play the Columbus Crew back in August. Instead, poor pitch conditions at Citi Field led to the game’s postponement. Now, the Pigeons will face the Ohio side in a midweek battle. Plus, the match will take place at Yankee Stadium instead.
The game was supposed to be the first one back after the Leagues Cup. At that time, the Crew had a 2-2-1 record in their last five Major League Soccer matches. Now, the team has a 1-2-2 record in their last five. The win did come over the weekend against Atlanta United FC, in which Columbus won 5-4. The result can act as a confidence booster for them, but also act as a warning for NYCFC.
In many games this season, the Boys in Blue grew into the matches. Hence, they might have struggled during the first half. The visitors, who scored all five of their goals from the 14th minute to the 29th minute, could take advantage of the Bronx side during those first 45 minutes. Although, NYCFC has a record of 4-1-0 in their last five fixtures, which makes it feel like they are trending in the right direction. More importantly, the team already knows they can compete with Columbus, for they stole a point in the 0-0 draw in Ohio.
NYCFC can beat them, especially at home. There will also be a drive of what three points can do for the Pigeons. Three points will see them hop over the Crew in the standings, and should see the Boys in Blue move a few spots up in the Eastern Conference table.

If NYCFC supporters cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via MLS Soccer’s timeline and NYCFC’s X account. Additionally, the club will post updates here and there on Facebook.
Wednesday’s game will be Noche Latina, so the Bronx team will celebrate the different Hispanic countries and cultures from the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. The team has this every year during Hispanic Heritage Month, and it is always a great game to see fans represent the different countries and NYCFC.
