There are some that consider the Christmas songbook on the Kop to be the best. One of the reasons for that might well be based on how many times we happen to have beaten Everton in December, leading to adaptations of the likes of Shakin Stevens’s Merry Christmas Everyone, adapted to say ‘Merry Christmas Everton’.
Another of the best tunes belted out by the Kop when the days are short, the weather is cold and there is often a frost on the Anfield turf is sung to the tune of O Come All Ye Faithful.
Obviously the lyrics have been adapted to make it all about the Reds, having been sung by the Anfield faithful since the 1960s. It is one of the very best Christmas songs to belt out to warm both the heart and the extremities, with the lyrics going as follows:
O come all ye faithful,
joyful and triumphant!
O come ye,
O come ye
To Anfield.
Come and behold them;
They’re the Kings of Europe.
O come let us adore them.
O come let us adore them.
O come let us adore them,
L I V E R P O O L!
