Martin Odegaard condemned Bernardo Silva’s late tackle during Norway’s match against Portugal, calling it out of place and saying he took an ankle knock. He exchanged words with the former Benfica player after the incident.

"I took a knock on the ankle. It probably will not be good tonight, but I hope it gets better in the next few days," Odegaard said, speaking to TV2.

Asked if it related to Manchester City links and the rivalry with Arsenal, he replied, "You have to ask him. I do not know what he is up to. This has no place on a football pitch. It is a shame that people act like this, but that is life."

Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup described it as an ugly late challenge, a bit excessive, and said referees cannot see everything. Patrick Berg criticised it as deliberate and unnecessary, adding that Odegaard seemed to be in considerable pain.
