ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga results: First Vienna hold Austria Wien, Pölten keep winning, and Graz stay top | OneFootball

The fifth week of football in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga saw 14 goals, just one clean sheet and Brigitta Pulins net her seventh goal of the season. All whilst a new team fell to the bottom of the table, and SK Sturm Graz retained their place at the top.

There was plenty of drama in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga this week as First Vienna stole a last-minute point from current champions Austria Wien. Graz continued to dominate the table, with SKN St. Pölten hot on their heels and with a game in-hand.

SK Sturm Graz vs SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg

The star of the show once again for SK Sturm Graz was Grasshopper Zurich Loanee Brigitta Pulins. Now on seven league goals from just five fixtures, the Canadian-born Hungarian is top of the scoring charts in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga.

Graz won 3-1 as Pulins bagged two more goals for her tally against Südburgenland in the first 20 minutes. Shortly after, Marie Spieß, the Austrian youth international, netted with her head after an expertly delivered Sipos cross for Graz’s third of the day.

Südburgenland pulled one back through new signing Zoé Magyarics. The Hungarian international has played well for her side since joining, grabbing her first goal as reward. Graz now sit tentatively at the top of the table, one point ahead of SKN St. Pölten, who have a game in-hand.

Südburgenland, however, now sit at the foot of the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga table, with just two points from their five fixtures.

First Vienna FC 1894 vs FK Austria Wien

In what was the biggest surprise of the week, First Vienna earned a point against current champions Austria Wien. New signing for First Vienna, Karla Kurkutovic, stole the show with a late goal in the 93rd minute of play. The Croatian international has burst into the Bundesliga with two goals and two assists so far for First Vienna. She looks the perfect addition to their squad.

It was Modesta Uka who grabbed Austria Wien’s only goal of their 1-1 draw. Uka has been relentless for Austria Wien this season already. The Kosovo international has scored five goals and managed three assists in all competitions already this season.

Austria Wien face a bit of an uphill struggle to catch both Graz and Pölten at the top of the table, who now sit five and six points ahead of them respectively. Austria Wien, however, do have a game in-hand on Graz, but dropping four points in four games will not have been in their plans as reigning champions.

SKN St. Pölten vs FC Red Bull Salzburg

In superior form to all other teams in the league, SKN St. Pölten remain unbeaten. They are also yet to let a single goal past them. They ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Salzburg. Goals from Tea Vracevic and Lisa Ebert sealed the three points.

Once again, as is slowly becoming their trademark, Pölten operated with a high tempo and two-touch style of football in the middle of the pitch when in possession. It’s a system manager Laurent Fassotte has instilled in his team effectively.

Star ‘keeper Carina Schlüter returned to the starting line-up for Pölten after her 17-year-old teammate Linna Hermsmeier was trusted for her senior debut against SCR Altach the week previous. Another Pölten goalkeeper, Josefine Osigus, departed the club to join German outfit FC Schalke 04, seemingly not content with being third choice.

Despite the loss for Salzburg, this result is decisively better than their 7-0 drubbing against Austria Wien last week. No points from these two games were likely expected. Salzburg boss Dušan Pavlović is likely to have a different plan of action for their game in the next round of fixtures as his side hosts SCR Altach, an opponent he will feel they should be beating.

FC Blau-Weiß Linz Kleinmünchen vs SK Rapid

It looked as though SK Rapid were to secure their first-ever ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga win as they took an early lead against Linz through Anna Holl. A talented right-sided midfielder, Holl joined Rapid from folded Bundesliga side USV Neulengbach at the start of the season and has looked a solid addition to Katja Gürtler’s side to date.

Linz, however, pulled a goal back to take the game to 1-1, with each side taking home a point. Austrian youngster Jasmin Schaur grabbed the goal in what is just her second ever Bundesliga game.

Each team will likely feel a confusing combination of both frustrated and content. Rapid and Linz have so far struggled to pick up points this season. They will be grateful for the extra point in the tally, despite victory seeming so likely.

SCR Altach vs LASK

There were four goals in this mid-table face-off fixture. The game finished 2-2, with both teams leaving with a share of the spoils from the Schnabelholz Stadium.

Petra Mikulica scored her first two goals of the season for Altach. The pacy forward who joined from Grasshopper Zurich in 2025 has been instrumental in Altach’s ability to steal points over the last two games. The 21-year-old Croatia international has a pace not many can match in the Bundesliga.

LASK saw out the draw through goals from new signings Antea Guvo and Blanka Bokor. LASK now sit sixth with four points from five games. Markus Eitl will no doubt be expecting a little more from his LASK side after extensive investment in the playing squad, adding several full internationals over the off-season.

ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga teams in Europe

SKN St. Pölten lost their UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture to Italian side Juventus 0-3, leaving them a tough scoreline to overcome in the return fixture in Turin on September 2nd. Two goals from Tatiana Pinto and one from defender Martina Rosucci were enough to win the game for the Turin side.

Elsewhere in the UWCL, Austria Wien fell to Brann in Bergen. Consistent FAK goal-scorer Patricia Pfanner grabbed a goal for the away side, but goals from Brann duo Lehtola and Davidson were enough to seal the first leg.

In the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, Graz claimed victory against Lithuanian side FC Gintra through two goals from young star Lena Breznik. They’ll travel to Lithuania on September 2nd for the second leg of the fixture.
