The January transfer window closed 18 hours ago, but we’re still getting plenty of deals officially announced.
The latest is a pretty simple one – David Datro Fofana moving to Strasbourg on loan.

David Datro Fofana playing in the FA Cup for Chelsea.
With Emmanuel Emegha continuing to suffer from injury problems this year, Chelsea’s sister club needed a boost in terms of attacking options, and DDF was an easy choice given he’s already on the books at BlueCo.
It gives him a chance to return to a top 5 league, where he can hopefully help the Alsatians and improve his chances of a permanent move this summer.
It’s a risk, however. With Joaquin Panichelli in great form, there’s a good chance that Fofana ends up on the bench a lot if he can’t impress Gary O’Neil early doors. While playing at Fatih Karagumruk in Turkey wasn’t the most glamorous destination for him to be parked, he was at least playing and scoring regularly in Turkey. This move has more upside, but given his patchy loan history could prove to be another mistake.
Chelsea paid around €12m for Fofana back in January 2023, and they will be desperate to try and get that money back this summer if they sell him. His market value has tumbled to just €5m on Transfermarkt, but we all know that it would just take a few goals between now and the end of the season to boost that.

Alejandro Garnacho struggled in Chelsea’s game against West Ham, and at full time Gary Neville had some big questions about his future and his form.
