Chelsea have just announced on the club’s official website that youngster Genesis Antwi has signed a new three year contract.
The deal has a two year option, making it potentially a juicy 5 year setup for the 18 year old.

Antwi is considered one of the best talents in the academy, which he joined at Under-12 level. He’s now a regular for the Under-21s, having progressed to that level from the Under-18s over the course of last season, when he also made his first team debut in the Conference League against Copenhagen and then Djurgarden.
He even made a first team feature in preseason, assisting Joao Pedro’s goal against Bayer Leverkusen by showing his superb burst of pace to beat a defender to the line and then pull it back for the Brazilian.
His progress at youth level is really good, and will be helped by the Under-21s return to the UEFA Youth League, where he scored against Bayern Munich last night.
There were rumours that he would be leaving this summer, either on loan or permanently, but he’s now locked down at Chelsea for some time to come. We would imagine a loan will considered in January, depending on how he’s getting on with the Under-21s.
Even if he stays put this season he’s a perfect candidate for a loan next year, with a Strasbourg move looking like a nice transition to the senior game.
Signing him up to a new contract allows Chelsea a lot more flexibility in deciding his future. This contract shows how much they believe in his potential, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him.
