Veteran Spanish striker Álvaro Negredo has this afternoon seen his stellar playing career extended once more.
This comes amid confirmation that the now-38-year-old has been snapped up by Segunda División side Real Valladolid.
Negredo, for his part, has been without a club since the beginning of the month, after seeing his contract terminated by La Liga strugglers Cádiz.
Speculation had since pointed towards as much potentially bringing an end to a career spanning two decades, and including high-profile stops the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
As alluded to above, though, on Thursday, the former Spanish international has been afforded a fresh opportunity.
Amid the club’s ongoing struggles in front of goal in the hunt for promotion to La Liga, Real Valladolid have brought Negredo in on a short-team deal through the summer.
As per a statement across the official website and social media platforms of the Pucelanos:
‘Álvaro Negredo is a new Real Valladolid player. The striker, with an extensive career in international football, completes the Blanquivioleta squad to which he joins as a free agent until the end of this season.’
