Amandine Henry (33) has pulled out of the France squad for the Womens World Cup, the French FA has announced. Henry’s return to the international fray, in the wake of Corinne Diacre’s dismissal and her replacement by Hervé Renard as Les Bleues boss, has been short-lived.

It’s a serious injury blow for Les Bleues considering Henry’s vast experience. The 93-time France international suffered a strain in her left hamstring the day before the team’s 3-0 friendly win against Ireland on Thursday. The Angel City FC midfielder will miss the opportunity to take part in her third consecutive Womens World Cup.

France have been drawn into Group F for the upcoming tournament, set to be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th to August 20th. Les Bleues will play Jamaica, Brazil and then Panama in the group stage. The 33-year-old midfielder has been replaced in the France squad by Manchester United FC’s Aïssatou Tounkara (28). France are set to fly away to Australia on Saturday.
