La Liga outfit Athletic Club have this afternoon announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks.
The player set to take his talents to the Basque Country in the summer? Álvaro Djaló.
Djaló, for his part, has been hotly tipped to link up with Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic for some time now, after word was forthcoming in the media that the 24-year-old had been earmarked as a leading target on the part of the brass at San Mamés.
Djaló is a gifted attacker who generally lines out on the left flank, but is also more than capable of featuring on the right, or in a more central role.
Across the season to date, he has racked up a hefty 38 appearances for Portuguese outfit SC Braga, notching a none-too-shabby 14 goals and three assists along the way.
As confirmed in an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, though, starting from next season, Djaló’s efforts will come whilst donning the colours of the aforementioned Athletic Club:
‘Athletic Club have signed forward Álvaro Djaló from Sporting Clube de Braga on a five-year contract which will run until 30 June 2029. His deal includes a fixed salary structure and objective-based bonuses.’
The transfer is understood to have set Athletic back an initial sum in the region of €15 million, followed by a further €5 million in bonuses.
It comes as Los Leones’ first signing involving a fee since all the way back in 2020.
